Job summary

Fowler Welch, part of the Culina Group, is recruiting a Transport Operator in Teynham for a full-time permanent role. The role focuses on vehicle utilisation, directing drivers, and meeting service levels within driver hours and H&S rules.

The salary is up to £33,000 per year, with 4 on 4 off nights from 19:00 to 07:00. The position offers a structured logistics environment and opportunities to develop within a leading fresh produce logistics group.

Qualifications

• Experience in a distribution/transport environment.
• Ability to manage own workload under pressure.
• Solid knowledge of geography and routes.
• Basic understanding of driver hours regulations/Tachograph law.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proactive, able to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Communicate all driver and subcontractor instructions clearly to drivers.
• Plan and optimise use of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies across sites.
• Ensure drivers operate within driver hours regulations and safety rules.
• Coordinate with planning to maximise fleet and driver utilisation.
• Record and verify compliance with customer requirements.
• Work with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and data is downloaded timely.
• Investigate incidents or driver performance issues with Transport Supervisors/HR.
• Support Supervisors in driver coaching to improve efficiency and KPI costs.
