Fowler Welch, part of the Culina Group, is recruiting for a Transport Operator at our Hilsea site. The role focuses on vehicle utilisation, driver instruction, and meeting service levels within hours/regulations. 4 on 4 off shifts run 6:30am–6:30pm, with a salary range of £28,000–£34,000 depending on experience.

Applicants will plan drivers, liaise with retail, and support drivers with breakdowns while ensuring compliance and timely updates to customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in a distribution/transport environment.
• Ability to manage own workload under pressure.
• Understanding of vehicle planning and driver hours regulations.
• Excellent organisational skills and initiative to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Plan drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies to maximise utilisation across sites.
• Ensure drivers operate within safe environments and driver hours regulations.
• Liaise with retail to optimise fleet and resolve delivery issues.
• Assist in equipment control to meet customer requirements and record actions.
• Investigate accidents or driver performance issues.
• Ensure trucks are legal and data is downloaded in a timely manner.
• Support drivers with callouts and breakdowns.
• Inform customers of late deliveries via email, phone or automated systems.
• Build and match ASNs to loads to ensure compliance.
• Complete accident, incident and near-miss paperwork.
• Track drivers using ISOTRAK/Microlise systems.
