DHL Supply Chain based in the UK is seeking a Transport First Line Manager to lead daily transport operations from site in Coleford. You will drive operational excellence, coach drivers, and ensure compliance across the transport network.

The role requires hands-on leadership, planning of daily routes, and close collaboration with agency drivers and subcontractors. A strong background in logistics supervision and compliance is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics operations management or a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of transport legal compliance and H&S standards.
• Experience in conflict management and performance appraisal.
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop frontline staff.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Willing to roll up sleeves and work hands-on when needed.

Responsabilités

• Review and amend daily transport plans as needed.
• Resolve daily transport issues with the local warehouse.
• Manage short-term driver absence and reallocation of work.
• Lead driver briefings/debriefings with agency and sub-contractor drivers.
• Ensure driver training and familiarisation with operations and equipment.
• Ensure pre-shift yard checks and defect processes are followed.
• Adhere to OPS fleet management processes and costs.
• Handle disciplinary matters and implement company policy.
• Occasionally deputise for the Transport Manager on calls.
• Plan quarterly 1-2-1s with direct reports per OMS guidelines.
• Direct work using TMS and ensure system compliance.
• Monitor driver performance and cost/performance trends.
• Support regulatory compliance and safety procedures.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Review and amend where appropriate daily plans
• Daily operations issue management and resolution for transport and with local warehouse
• Management of short term driver absence and relocation of work
• Responsible for full and effective daily brief/debrief for DHL, agency and sub-contractor drivers
• Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance during shift in accordance with DHL Asset Management Centre of Excellence standards
• Ensuring all drivers are appropriately trained and familarised with both operations and equipment
  (only where there is no regional site compliance teams)
• Ensuring and sampling pre-shift checks (yard checks) and the defect process
• Ensuring fleet management (OPS) processes are adhered to
• Accident and breakdown management via DHL standard operating procedures
• Ownership and accountability for driver induction, training and qualification are up to date for drivers reports
  (only where there is no regional site compliance teams)
• From time to time you may be requested to deputise for the Transport Manager on daily plan/do/review calls
• To schedule, prepare and conduct quarterly 1-2-1's with all direct reports in line with OMS guidelines
• Interrogation, allocation and assignment of work via TMS, ensuring system compliance
• Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepanies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan
• Manage operational costs and identification of cost performance trends - i.e. fuel performance/accidents etc
• Manage disciplinary and grievance in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Logistic Industry and supervisory level - Preferred
• Transport legal compliance experience - Preferred
• Conflict Management /Performance Appraisal/Disciplinary & Grievance Training - Preferred
• Can lead from the front, winning hearts and minds and providing coaching and mentorship
• Have excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
• Aren't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when needed
