Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is recruiting a Waking Night Residential Support Worker for a specialist SEND school and residential setting in the DE4 area.

You will support children and young people with a range of needs, keeping them safe and comfortable during the night, while following care plans and maintaining professional standards. The role requires experience with SEND, resilience for night shifts, and strong communication to work with the residential and education teams.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Residential, care, education or support experience.
• Confident working waking-night shifts.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and responsive during challenging situations.
• Reliability and commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing waking-night support within the residential setting.
• Ensuring young people remain safe and comfortable throughout the night.
• Supporting individual SEND and additional care needs.
• Responding calmly to challenging situations or changes in behaviour.
• Following individual care and support plans.
• Completing appropriate observations and records.
• Supporting personal care where required.
• Working closely with the wider residential and SEND team.
• Maintaining safeguarding and professional standards at all times.
