Job summary

Vanta Staffing are recruiting for an experienced Night Shift Manager to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Princes Risborough. This hands-on role leads a small team and ensures the night shift runs smoothly, safely and efficiently.

You will manage production and warehouse activities on the night shift, coach staff, monitor performance, and support recruitment and training as the operation grows.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience within production, manufacturing, warehousing or logistics.
• Hands-on operational background.
• Proven experience in leading and motivating a team.
• Ability to make decisions and work independently overnight.

Responsibilities

Vanta Staffing are currently recruiting for an experienced Night Shift Manager to join a well-established manufacturing operation based in Princes Risborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Supervisor or Manager who enjoys being involved on the shop floor, leading a small team and taking responsibility for the smooth running of a night operation.

The successful candidate will combine people management with practical operational work, ensuring production and warehouse activity is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

As the business continues to grow, there will also be an opportunity for the successful candidate to help develop and expand the night shift, including supporting recruitment, training, team development and the introduction of improved processes and structure.

The Role

As Night Shift Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the night-shift production and warehousing operation, leading by example and working alongside your team when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a small production and warehouse team throughout the night shift.
• Be hands-on with production, picking, packing, goods movement and general warehouse activities.
• Allocate work effectively according to workload, skills and priorities.
• Monitor workflow throughout the shift and adjust priorities to maintain productivity and deadlines.
• Step into operational duties during periods of increased demand, staff absence or urgent requirements.
• Ensure equipment, materials and work areas are prepared and organised for the shift.
• Monitor team attendance, timekeeping, performance and behaviour.
• Provide hands-on coaching, support and feedback to team members.
• Act as the main point of contact for the team during the night.
• Resolve operational issues independently and elevate where appropriate.
• Complete and maintain accurate paperwork, system updates and stock movements.
• Carry out quality and accuracy checks across production and warehouse activities.
• Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, organisation, health & safety and PPE.
• Ensure safe working practices, including correct manual handling procedures.
• Carry out basic equipment checks and report any faults promptly.
• Provide clear and accurate handovers to the day shift.
• Support the onboarding and training of new employees.
• Assist with recruitment and team development as the night operation grows.
• Help establish effective routines, controls and processes to support future expansion.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident leading from the front.

You will ideally have:

• Previous supervisory or management experience within production, manufacturing, warehousing or logistics.
• A strong hands-on operational background.
• Proven experience managing and motivating a team.
• The ability to make confident decisions and work independently during a night shift.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly around quality, accuracy and stock.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities.
• The ability and willingness to work in a physical, hands-on environment.
