Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking a hands-on engineer to oversee safe setup of machinery and equipment on site, ensuring safety standards and operational efficiency while supporting the Engineering Team.

The role involves completing machine set ups, changeovers, checks, and hand backs, with a focus on minimizing downtime, continuous improvement, and cost control. Night shift coverage at Grimsby site is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in chilled and frozen environments with coated products and white fish processing.
• Strong MS Office skills and documentation
• Ability to work in a matrix structure with cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage priorities and projects across a multi-function organisation
• Mechanical and electrical minded with an interest in engineering
• Personal commitment to modelling professional behaviours

Responsibilities

• Promote safe, diligent machine minding and operate equipment on site.
• Drive long-term equipment improvements for the site.
• Complete machinery setups and changeovers.
• Perform equipment checks in line with food safety and H&S legislation.
• Hand back to Production / Hygiene and Technical teams as required.
• Minimise downtime with no compromise on safety.
• Report faults and proactively prevent breakdowns.
• Assist technicians with breakdowns and tool changes.
• Educate operatives to be proactive with equipment care.
• Monitor machinery performance for optimal operation.
• Apply financial rigour to site projects for value for money.
• Generate ideas to improve performance in the working area.
• Maintain continual visual checks throughout shifts.
