Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative for its Transportation team in Fareham, Hampshire. This permanent, full-time position (39 hours per week) features an evenings/night shift pattern and a competitive hourly salary with potential overtime and night-rate uplift.

Responsibilities include highway maintenance, incident response, and maintaining vehicle records, with an emphasis on customer care and safety compliance. Driving licence and night-shift capability are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
• Valid UK Driving Licence or LGV Cat C
• Experience and knowledge of strict H&S operations and its practical implications
• Ability to work night shifts and contribute towards out of hours call out roster

Responsibilities

• Carryout highways maintenance duties as instructed, including winter maintenance when appropriate
• Respond promptly to incidents on the network and liaise with the Regional Network Hub Control Centre
• Promote customer care by ensuring politeness and courtesy to clients and users
• Carryout daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure vehicles are maintained in good order
