Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Highway Maintenance Operative to join the Area 4 East Depots team. This hands-on role supports maintaining a safe and efficient highway network across the area, with duties including kerbing, drainage, paving, surfacing and repair works.

You will operate light plant machinery and assist with tasks while working a 39-hour week on a pattern that includes days and nights. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway maintenance or similar field.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Holding a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate light plant machinery such as compressors, rollers, and disc cutters with daily checks.
• Assist skilled operatives with kerbing, drainage, paving, surfacing and repair works.
• Excavate soil, rock, asphalt and concrete using hand and powered tools.
• Carry out general site duties including sweeping, cleaning and litter picking.
• Perform grass cutting, gully emptying, strimming and traffic management.
