COLAS ROADS UK is recruiting a Highways Maintenance Operative to join the team at Doxey Depot, ST18 9LG. The role predominantly involves night shifts within a 40-hour week, carrying out reactive, routine and planned highway maintenance across the Strategic Road Network.

Ideal candidates will hold a Full UK Driving Licence, with a Class C HGV CPC preferred, and have highway maintenance experience or relevant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Class C HGV licence with CPC is preferred.
• Experience in highways maintenance or similar operations is desirable.
• Qualifications such as Traffic Management, VRS, Gully Emptying or Soft Estate Maintenance are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out diverse highways maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
• Undertake Gully Emptying, Soft Estate Maintenance, sweeping and cleaning tasks.
• Install, maintain and remove Traffic Management systems.
• Support Winter Maintenance operations and severe weather responses.
• Participate in incident management and emergency response activities.
• Work with colleagues to ensure safe systems of work and risk assessments.
• Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and conduct pre-use checks.
• Complete timesheets and record labour, plant and materials.
• Maintain professional conduct reflecting the company values.
• Work night shifts predominantly with occasional days; standby rotas may apply.
• Adhere to health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
