Job summary

VolkerHighways in the UK is seeking a Highways Operative to join the term maintenance contract based at our Chichester depot. You will perform kerb laying, drainage work, asphalt and patching, and other civils tasks while safely maintaining equipment and vehicles.

You will operate plant and contribute to out-of-hours and winter duties with a collaborative team approach. A valid UK licence and SWQR/NRSWA qualifications are preferred, with training available.

Qualifications

• NRSWA or Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) is required or essential.
• Confident in operating plant and hand/tools used on site.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out highways maintenance tasks such as kerb laying, footway works and drainage repairs.
• Operate asphalt and patching works and perform general civils and groundworks.
• Operate mechanical plant with required training/certification.
• Support out-of-hours winter/emergency call-outs as part of rota.
• Work with direct labour and subcontractors to meet daily/weekly targets.
• Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles to safe, clean condition.
