Job summary

Colas Ltd is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative (HMO) to join the team, predominantly night shifts at Doxey Depot in ST18 9LG. The role involves reactive, routine and planned maintenance across the Strategic Road Network, including winter maintenance and incident response.

The position offers a 40-hour week, hourly pay between £12.52 and £14.97, and monthly pay. Benefits include a pension, life assurance, holidays, and a hybrid working scheme dependent on role.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
• Class C HGV Licence with CPC is preferred.
• Experience in highways maintenance or related environment is desirable.
• Qualifications in Traffic Management, VRS, Gully Emptying or Soft Estate Maintenance are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a variety of highway maintenance activities safely and efficiently.
• Undertake gully emptying, soft estate maintenance, sweeping and cleaning tasks.
• Install, maintain and remove Traffic Management systems.
• Support winter maintenance operations and respond to emergencies.
• Participate in incident management and emergency response.
• Ensure safe systems of work and conduct risk assessments.
• Operate company vehicles, plant and equipment with proper checks.
• Complete timesheets and record labour, plant and materials.
