Job summary

FedEx is seeking a fully skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at the Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Newcastle-under-Lyme. You will service and maintain FedEx assets to keep the fleet safe, legal and reliable, following planned maintenance schedules.

The role is 40 hours per week, nights, with base pay £21.70 per hour plus night-premium enhancements. You will join a diverse, inclusive team with strong career opportunities and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Fully skilled with licenses and vocational training.
• City & Guilds parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting equipment.
• Ability to lift and manoeuvre Heavy Vehicle Components.
• Experience with welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting.
• Must possess valid driving licence.
• Previous experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Completion of signed service and inspection records.
• Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing to a first time pass standard.
• Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying defects.
• Ensure safe use of tools, plant and ancillary equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping and perform other duties as required.
