Job summary

FedEx Exeter is seeking a self-motivated Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at the Vehicle Maintenance Unit in Exeter. You will maintain the safety and reliability of the FedEx fleet by servicing and repairing vehicles and trailers to planed schedules.

The role offers 40 hours per week with shifts Monday to Friday, and a base pay of £21.70 per hour plus night shift premia.

Qualifications

Fully skilled with LGV C&E licence (class one) and vocational training.
City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent in commercial vehicle repairs.
Experience with automotive testing and troubleshooting equipment.
Ability to lift and manoeuvre Heavy Vehicle Components.
Experience with welding and basic DC electrical troubleshooting.
Must possess valid driving license.
Previous experience within a similar role.

Responsibilities

Completion of signed service and inspection records.
Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
Prepare vehicles and trailers for annual MOT testing (to a standard to ensure 1st time pass).
Perform ad-hoc vehicle repairs, investigating and rectifying vehicle defects.
Ensuring the correct and effective safe use of all tools, plant and ancillary equipment.
Maintaining good housekeeping standards carrying out any other duty deemed reasonable by Management.
