Job summary

Mearns View Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Senior Care Assistant in Newton Mearns to lead a care team and deliver safe, person-centred care for residents.

You will oversee night shifts (7.45pm–8am), monitor residents, and manage medications while maintaining clear records and liaising with families and health professionals. SVQ2 is required; SVQ3 is desirable. PVG, pension and uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards.
• Medication administration training with competency is essential.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support the team in delivering safe, high-quality person-centred care.
• Take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift; ensure care is well organised and delivered to a high standard.
• Oversee medication administration and monitor residents’ wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate care records and communicate with families and healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity of care.

Job description

Our purpose built, luxury 67-bed care facility is located in the charming town of Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire. We are proud to provide a range of services which includes Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite & Palliative Care.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £14.50 per hour
• Contracted to 33 - 44 hours per week - working 7.45pm - 8am
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.
