Job summary

Young Care Hub in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a Bank Night Residential Support Worker to provide trauma-informed, compassionate care for children aged 8–17. You will work the night shift as the sole waking staff member, with on-site sleep-in colleagues, and support through calmly checking in and reassuring children as needed.

Responsibilities include light tasks, accurate logging, and helping with the morning routine before handover to the day team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or in childcare settings is desirable; full training will be provided.
• Driving licence with clean record preferred
• Knowledge of child development and care planning processes
• Basic IT skills for documentation and reporting
• Compassionate, patient, and reliable approach to supporting young people
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work the night shift as the sole waking staff member, with sleep-in colleagues on site.
• Check in on children and offer reassurance if they wake.
• Complete light household tasks and write accurate logs.
• Assist with the morning routine before handover to the day team.
