Job summary

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a part-time Children’s Residential Support Worker for our brand-new residential home, offering an evenings/night shift and a pro-rata salary. You will provide child-centred support in line with regulations and safeguarding policies, working to ensure the welfare and safety of children and young people.

We welcome experienced social care workers or those with transferable skills, with training and DBS checks provided.

Qualifications

• QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards within statutory timescales.
• Ability to engage with children and teenagers with complex emotional needs.
• 2 years’ experience in Social Care is desirable.
• Ability to work the required shift patterns including weekends, overnights, late shifts and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take on the role of a corporate parent, providing love and direction to children and young people.
• Build meaningful relationships with children and young people with complex backgrounds.
• Act quickly when welfare or safety concerns arise.
• Deliver high-quality support and guidance to promote best outcomes for placement.
• Be flexible to support smooth home operations.
• Support night-time settling and ensuring children feel safe in their home.
• Keep the home well-presented and welcoming.
