Job summary

Linton Lodge Oxford is seeking a Night Porter to ensure the hotel runs smoothly overnight, greeting guests and handling late arrivals with a friendly, professional approach.

You will assist with reception tasks, security checks, and night audit duties, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. Training will be provided for the right candidate, with weekend and bank holiday availability expected.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in hospitality, reception or a similar overnight role is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
• A dependable, punctual approach and confidence working overnight.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.
• Good attention to detail and basic computer skills.
• The ability to work independently, support colleagues and remain calm when unexpected situations arise.
• Availability to work night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm, professional welcome, assisting with late arrivals, early departures and overnight guest enquiries.
• Support reception duties, including telephone calls, reservations and payments, following hotel procedures.
• Carry out regular security patrols and safety checks, reporting any concerns promptly.
• Respond to guest requests and complaints calmly and efficiently, escalating issues when necessary.
• Keep reception and public areas clean, tidy and welcoming.
• Assist with night audit tasks, overnight paperwork and the night checklist, with training provided.
• Help prepare breakfast and meeting areas for the following day.
• Follow hotel fire and emergency procedures and provide a clear handover to the morning team.
