Job summary

Focal Systems is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform installations for customers across the Newcastle upon Tyne area. You will install, deploy and ensure adoption of our retail AI system, traveling to sites and coordinating with customers.

This is a fixed-term contract (6 months) with a minimum of 20 hours per week and overnight/site visits. A valid UK driving licence and reliable transportation are required to reach customer sites.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a field technician role, preferably in field service, installation, construction, or related field.
• Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Proficiency in using power tools and other installation equipment.
• Physical stamina to work on feet and perform tasks for extended periods (up to 9 hours).
• Detail-oriented with strong attention to specifications.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Install camera hardware: mounting, connecting and configuring in accordance with company standards.
• Respond promptly to installation requests and ensure customer SLAs are met.
• Maintain accurate records of installation activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, using company-provided tools.
• Onboarding/scanning products into the system.
• Operate power tools safely and efficiently to complete installations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during installation visits.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely completion of installations.
