Job summary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is recruiting for a Site Waste Operative (Band 2) to support the Facilities Logistics Services across Eastbourne and Hastings sites. The role involves removing and segregating waste streams, including clinical and linen waste, and operating waste equipment.

The post is part-time (30 hours per week) with night shifts and an NHS pension; full staff benefits and support are available within the Trust’s environment.

Qualifications

• Good general education including Maths and English.
• Previous cleaning experience in any capacity / environment.
• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Experience of working in waste industry or have good knowledge of waste types and understand waste segregation.

Responsibilities

• Remove all waste streams from disposal rooms and ensure waste is segregated correctly.
• Carry out scheduled waste collections from wards, departments and designated waste rooms.
• Operate waste management equipment such as compactors and cardboard balers.
• Clean disposal rooms at night.
• Work as part of the Facilities Logistics Services team to maintain a safe hospital environment.
