Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Waste Operative (Band 2) to join the One LSC team. The post is part-time (22.5 hours weekly, Wed–Fri 07:30–15:30) and entails outdoor, active work with a focus on maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.

You will work with a dedicated waste team across hospital sites, with training provided on waste handling and safety protocols. Pro-rata salary and opportunities to develop within NHS Estates and Facilities.

Qualifications

• GCSE standard or equivalent required.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• First aid course desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collect waste streams from wards/departments and transport to the waste compound.
• Communicate with clinical and non-clinical staff and patients to understand needs.
• Operate the on-site waste compactor and follow trust policies and safety procedures.
