Job summary

Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel, Golf & Spa is seeking a reliable Night Porter to join our overnight team. You will be the welcoming face of the hotel for late arrivals and the primary point of contact for overnight guests, balancing service with security across the property.

The role requires independent decision-making, strong customer service and the ability to handle cash, midnight audits, and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel experience is essential for this role.
• Must be aged 18 or over due to serving alcohol.
• Able to work overnight, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests during the night with warmth and professionalism.
• Check-in/check-out procedures for late arrivals.
• Handle guest inquiries and provide information about the hotel and local area.
• Monitor security and safety, and respond to emergencies.
• Balance the Night Audit and reconcile daily revenue.
• Prepare and serve overnight food and beverages following licensing rules.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of public areas and meeting spaces.
