Job summary

St Martins Care in Thornaby-on-Tees is recruiting a Care Assistant for full-time night shifts to provide compassionate support to residents in the later stages of life, delivering person-centred care that respects their wishes and maintains dignity.

You will follow care plans, work with colleagues, and help residents stay connected with the local community. No prior experience is required; good English, clear communication, and a caring attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Good English (written and verbal).
• Proficient written skills to maintain care plans and records.
• Communication skills to build rapport with residents, communicate effectively with them, and inform colleagues, management, and professionals about their needs.
• Problem-solving skills to adapt to and address situations quickly, develop solutions, and recognise/report situations requiring protection.
• Ability to assist residents with daily tasks by following their care plan, this may include bathing, eating, dressing, grooming, and using the bathroom.

Responsibilities

• Put residents at the heart of care; respect wishes and preferences to enhance wellbeing.
• Follow care plans and other supporting information regarding residents.
• Inform Senior Care Assistant/Nurse of any changes in residents' needs.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of those being supported.
