Job summary

St Martins Care in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Care Assistant to provide compassionate care in a busy elderly care home on a full-time basis. You will support residents with daily tasks, follow care plans, and work within a multidisciplinary team to enhance residents’ wellbeing.

Excellent communication and English language skills are essential. This role requires empathy, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining people’s dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Good English (written and verbal).
• Proficient written skills to maintain care plans and care records in line with service policy.
• Communication skills to build rapport with residents, communicate effectively with them, and inform colleagues, management, and professionals about their needs.
• Problem-solving skills to adapt to and address situations quickly, develop solutions, and recognise/report situations requiring protection.
• Ability to assist residents with daily tasks by following their care plan, this may include bathing, eating, dressing, grooming, and using the bathroom.

Responsibilities

• Ensure residents are at the heart of care delivery, respecting their wishes and preferences to enhance their wellbeing.
• Contribute to the efficient running of the service.
• Support residents to maintain relationships and connections with their local community.
• Follow care plans and other supporting information regarding residents.
• Inform the Senior Care Assistant/Nurse of any changes in a residents needs.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of those being supported.
