Job summary

The Bodmin Jail Hotel & Attraction is seeking a Night Assistant to ensure guest safety, comfort and excellent service during overnight hours. You will handle check-in/out, respond to inquiries, and coordinate with teams to maintain a seamless guest experience.

You will contribute to a secure, welcoming environment at a historic Cornwall site, with flexibility across nights, weekends and holidays, and opportunities to support hotel and attraction operations.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Willingness to work overnight hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to handle guest inquiries and resolve issues professionally.

Responsibilities

• Handle guest check-in and check-out procedures during night shifts.
• Monitor security and ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
• Maintain knowledge of room types, hotel facilities and local attractions.
• Monitor room availability and manage room inventory to maximise occupancy and revenue.
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and courteously.
• Complete nightly reports and balance the day's transactions.
• Assist with administrative duties such as filing and data entry.

The Role

As a Night Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of our guests during the overnight hours, including delivering outstanding customer service, handling guest inquiries and requests, and ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process and responding to guests via phone, emails and social media.

Responsibilities include

• Handle guest check-in and check-out procedures efficiently, including the issuance of room keys, payment processing, and providing necessary information.
• Monitor security cameras, conduct regular property patrols, and ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of room types, hotel facilities, and local attractions (including the Bodmin Jail Attraction).
• Monitor room availability and manage room inventory to maximise occupancy and revenue.
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
• Complete nightly reports and balance the day's financial transactions.
• Assist with administrative duties, including filing and data entry.
