Job summary

The Bodmin Jail Hotel is looking for a Food & Beverage Assistant to help deliver an exceptional dining experience. You will provide excellent customer service, assist with orders, and support the F&B operations with a positive, professional approach.

You will join a team within a historic luxury venue in Cornwall, with opportunities to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Prior F&B experience is a plus, but a great attitude and strong customer focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Previous experience in food & beverage or a similar role is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable attitude.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Assist guests with menu selections and provide recommendations when taking orders, communicating dietary requests to the kitchen
• Set up and maintain dining areas, ensure tables are clean and properly set with utensils, glassware and tableware
• Monitor and respond to guests' needs throughout their experience, including refilling drinks and clearing dishes
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring safety for guests and colleagues
• Process guest payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic transactions with integrity
• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and delivered on time
• Support team members during busy periods and special events
