Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering an Apprenticeship as a Healthcare Assistant. This full-time role provides training across nursing support with 37.5 hours per week, with a progression band on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship starts on 15 February 2027 with an interview date on 24 November 2026. No direct experience is required; eligibility criteria include English & maths qualifications and UK work eligibility.

Qualifications

• Be aged 18 or over (due to shifts and role)
• Have the right to work in the UK
• Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
• Must not be self-employed
• Provide original evidence of English & Maths qualifications at interview

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified nursing team with setting up clinical areas
• Look after patients pre- and post-procedure; report concerns to nursing team
• Work with multi-disciplinary team to maintain high levels of patient care and dignity
• Contribute to clerical duties as required
• Contribute to cleaning and housekeeping within the department
• Ensure stock is available as required
• Work a minimum of 30 hours per week
• Undertake and complete the apprenticeship course within 15-18 months
