Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering a full-time and part-time apprenticeship for a Care Assistant. The role starts as Band 2 during training and progresses to Band 3 upon successful completion.

No direct experience is required as comprehensive training is provided, with development within a healthcare setting and a focus on patient dignity and care. Apprentices will work 37.5 hours weekly, with shifts including days and nights, and must commit to completing the 15–18 month

Qualifications

• No direct experience required; full training provided.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Willingness to undertake and complete the apprenticeship within 15–18 months.
• Must meet UK eligibility criteria for apprenticeship funding.

Responsibilities

• Assist the qualified nursing team with setting up the clinical area.
• Look after patients before and after procedures and report concerns to the nursing team.
• Support the multidisciplinary team to maintain high levels of patient care and dignity.
• Contribute to clerical duties when required.
• Assist with cleaning and housekeeping within the department.
• Ensure stock is available as required.
• Work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
• Willingness to complete the apprenticeship course within 15–18 months.
• Present yourself as courteous, respectful and helpful.
