Job summary

Inspire Neurocare, part of Care Concern Group, is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant in Farnborough to support the kitchen team in preparing nutritious, high quality meals for residents. Working with chefs on food prep and adherence to planned menus and dietary requirements, you will help maintain hygiene and safe practices and assist with stock and temperature checks.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements is desirable.
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the kitchen team with the preparation and delivery of nutritious, high quality meals.
• Work with chefs on chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients.
• Support basic cooking and meal preparation in line with planned menus and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safe working practices.
• Assist with stock rotation, storage and temperature checks.
• Meet nutritional and dietary needs including texture-modified diets.
• Provide a caring and respectful approach around people with neurological conditions.

Job description

Fernhill Neurological Centre is a purpose-built specialist neurological care and rehabilitation centre in Farnborough, Hampshire. Supporting adults with complex neurological conditions and injuries, the centre provides personalised rehabilitation and long-term care focused on promoting independence and quality of life. With modern facilities, dedicated therapy spaces and a large physiotherapy gym, colleagues work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to make a meaningful difference to the people we support.

• £26,862.53 per annum
• 40 hours per week

Role Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team with the preparation and delivery of nutritious, high quality meals for the people we support.

Working alongside the chefs, the role includes food preparation such as chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients, as well as supporting basic cooking and meal preparation in line with planned menus and individual dietary requirements.

You will help maintain high standards of food hygiene and safe working practices, including stock rotation, food storage and temperature checks. The role also involves supporting the kitchen team to meet the nutritional and dietary needs of individuals, including texture-modified and specialist diets.

A caring and sensitive approach is important when working around people with neurological conditions, including those who may have cognitive, physical or communication difficulties.
