Job summary
Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced cancer nurse to lead and develop the Macmillan Neuro Oncology Cancer nursing service. The post holder will coordinate the patient pathway, act as main point of contact, and provide specialist information and support from diagnosis in line with national directives.
The role requires independent nurse prescribing and engagement with ACCEND education for career progression.
Qualifications
- Master’s level qualification in nursing or equivalent with cancer care focus.
- Post-graduate module in Fundamentals of Cancer Care or equivalent.
- Trained to provide Level 2 Psychological Support.
- Formal training in advanced communication skills.
- Leadership development through Rosalind Franklin program or equivalent.
- Registered independent nurse prescriber.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the patient pathway as part of the Neuro-oncology MDT.
- Lead holistic needs assessment and care planning from diagnosis.
- Act as main contact for patients, providing information and support.
- Lead on delivering personalised cancer care and ensuring End of Treatment summaries.
