Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced cancer specialist nurse to deliver holistic care in the Head and Neck Cancer service. You will provide clinical care, specialist advice, and support while working within the MDT and across boundaries with primary and palliative care.

Qualifications

• Degree nursing qualification and NMC registration.
• Evidence of ability to pursue post-graduate study at level 6 or 7.
• Desirable MSC in a relevant subject; leadership course/qualification.
• Demonstrable leadership experience, knowledge of cancer treatments.
• Experience teaching/coaching patients; excellent communication skills.
• Appropriate UK professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide comprehensive clinical care, specialist advice, and support to patients in the Head and Neck Cancer service.
• Work within the ACCEND capabilities framework and develop a portfolio of evidence for Enhanced level working.
• Collaborate as an autonomous specialist practitioner alongside the MDT in the Head and Neck Cancer service.
• Perform service-specific skills: tracheostomy/airway management, nutrition, advanced communication, psycho-social support, HNA delivery and wound management (training provided).
• Develop and deliver a high-quality practitioner-led clinic in the Head and Neck Cancer service.
• Role may include line management and/or supervision of the Cancer Care Coordinator.
• Maintain flexibility within the Head and Neck Cancer service to ensure appropriate specialist cover.
