About The Role

At Node4, we deliver exceptional IT solutions that drive business success. We are looking for a 2nd Line Network Support Engineer to join our team in Derby. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where innovation and service excellence are prioritized.

You will provide advanced support for our customers' networks, ensuring reliability, security, and high performance. Working closely with customers and senior engineers, you will resolve escalated issues, implement configurations, and maintain network infrastructure.

You’ll also participate in a shared on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support, with additional allowances.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide 2nd line technical support for network incidents and requests.
2. Diagnose and resolve issues with routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
3. Configure and troubleshoot hardware from Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet.
4. Support and maintain firewall and security infrastructure.
5. Coordinate with third-party vendors and internal teams for issue resolution.
6. Maintain documentation and update ticketing systems.
7. Assist in network projects and upgrades.

What You Will Bring

• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Meraki equipment.
• Understanding of firewall technologies and network security.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in support environments.
• Knowledge of networking protocols like BGP, OSPF, VPNs, VLANs, NAT.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.

Desirable Skills

• Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, NSE.
• Experience in managed services or ISPs.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and scripting (Python, Ansible).
• Experience with ITIL processes.
