Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Service Technician to join our team at Thames Water. This is a customer-facing role where you will resolve network challenges to ensure minimal disruption to supply. No experience is needed as we provide comprehensive training; just a desire to learn and excellent customer service skills.

What you will be doing as a Network Service Technician
  1. Operate the mains network, including controlling burst mains and ensuring isolation for planned work, repairs, and maintenance.
  2. Take ownership of customer issues, respond to queries & complaints, and resolve problems.
  3. Ensure water quality compliance during repairs.
  4. Act as local network expert for isolation and rezoning, providing information for risk assessments & sharing network risk and safety information.
  5. Investigate the clean water network to resolve issues like high/low pressure, leakage, metering queries, and loss of supply.
  6. Work in compliance with company procedures, including health & safety and streetworks legislation.
Location and Working Pattern

Base Location: Reading - Fobney - RG2 0SF, covering the Thames Valley area on shift. Working hours: 38 hours/week with a rotation of late shifts and standby every 8 weeks.

Requirements
  • Clean UK driving license and willingness to drive between jobs.
What you should bring to the role
  • Customer service experience in a changing environment.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Experience in plumbing or water mains is advantageous but not essential.
  • NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / GCSE or equivalent (desirable).
  • IT skills for communication via portable devices.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
