Location: We currently have vacancies for a Network Operations Technician to join the Customer Field Services department to cover the Sheffield area. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance from our Blackburn Meadows wastewater sites and be committed to providing excellent service to our customers.

Work type: These are permanent roles, working rotational 37 or 40-hour patterns on a 4 on 4 off basis, including late, early, and weekend shifts.

Where You Fit In

As our Network Operations Technician, you will deliver first-time fixes and same-day solutions to customer and environmental issues, and manage network maintenance to prevent escapes.

You will work in the field within a geographical team to improve customer service and sewer network performance. Responsibilities include ensuring site safety, conducting investigations, operating various vehicle types, and using IT systems for data collection and reporting.

You will also maintain and install Customer Sewer Alarms, collaborate with third-party providers, and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures. Financial awareness and first-line customer support are essential aspects of the role.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Practical mindset, enjoy outdoor work in all weather, hands-on approach.
• Experience in a customer service role with face-to-face interaction.
• Ability to develop effective relationships and influence outcomes.
• Confidence in reporting unsafe practices.
• Excellent communication skills for evidence gathering and feedback.
• Fault diagnosis and root cause analysis skills.
• Basic IT skills and experience with internal systems.
• Flexibility to work various rotas, including out-of-hours standby.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, passing medical criteria.
• Valid driving license (no more than 6 points).

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of sewerage systems and performance issues.
• Competence with Yorkshire Water IT systems.
• Experience in water, wastewater, utilities, or related sectors.
