Job summary

Capita is seeking a Network Operations Centre Engineer to join its 24/7 Technology Operations Command Centre in Belfast. The role is shift-based (days and nights) with 4 on/4 off pattern, focusing on monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving network incidents across a critical customer estate.

You will work onsite, utilize Enterprise monitoring tools, and collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure stability and high availability of network services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in troubleshooting across routing and switching
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VLANs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Experience in enterprise/service provider environments desirable
  • Familiarity with multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, AWS)
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting and ticketing systems (SolarWinds, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy)
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and documentation skills
  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance
  • Capable of working in a 24/7 shift model

Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor network performance, capacity and availability
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve network faults across LAN/WAN/SDWAN
  • Log and progress incidents and service requests through lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate updates and detailed documentation
  • Work to SLAs and achieve high first-time fix rates
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors
  • Communicate clearly with customers, suppliers and internal teams
