Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support a leading Cardiff-based organisation within its Technical Operations team. You will implement, support and improve network infrastructure across WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi and firewalls, including Azure networking and datacentre environments.

You will collaborate with Cyber Security, project teams and external service partners, acting as a key escalation point for network issues and ensuring security, reliability and peak performance

Qualifications

• Hands-on network engineering across WAN/LAN/Wi‑Fi/firewalls.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
• Experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco FMG.
• Fortinet ecosystem experience.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs and network segmentation.
• Experience configuring and managing network firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC.
• Azure networking experience (VNets, NSGs, VPN gateways).
• Troubleshooting and escalation skills.
• Ability to work with internal/external stakeholders.
• Willingness to support major incidents.

Responsibilities

• Implementing and supporting network infrastructure across WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi and firewalls.
• Managing and supporting Cisco ACI, Cisco FMG and the Fortinet ecosystem.
• Working with Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs and VPN gateways.
• Reviewing technical designs and ensuring compliance with security policies.
• Managing network security across firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC and segmentation.
• Collaborating with Cyber Security on remediation, risk assessments and threat intel.
• Escalation point for complex network incidents to minimise disruption.
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders and external service providers on changes.
• Monitoring network performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate network configurations, topologies and documentation.
• Supporting integration of new networking technologies.
• Identifying opportunities for automation and reducing manual configuration.
