Job summary

Wales & West Utilities Limited is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support and secure its IT network across WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, and firewalls in datacentres, Azure, and offices. You will drive proactive management, monitoring, and automation with a focus on security and uptime.

You will collaborate with Cyber Security and external partners, document network designs in LeanIX, and respond quickly to incidents. A CCNA or equivalent is required and AZ-700 is desirable.

Qualifications

• CCNA or an equivalent certification is required.
• AZ-700 certification highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching.
• Experience with Cisco ACI and FMG.
• Experience with NAC is desirable.
• Fortinet ecosystem experience is essential.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Review technical designs and guide solution alignment with WWU security policies.
• Collaborate with Cyber Security to remediate vulnerabilities based on risk assessments.
• Act as escalation point for network-related incidents to minimise downtime.
• Define network changes with stakeholders and partners and set roadmaps.
• Maintain documentation of network configurations and topologies in LeanIX.
• Respond under pressure to network issues identified by service providers.
• Leverage network automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
