Job summary

A network infrastructure engineering specialist is sought to join the client’s IT team in the UK. The role is hands‑on, maintaining and developing network and infrastructure across multiple sites, ensuring security, reliability and performance.

You will deploy and manage LAN/WAN, VPN, SD‑WAN and Wi‑Fi, configure switches/routers/firewalls, and administer VMware, Microsoft 365 and Azure. Travel to sites and occasional out‑of‑hours work are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a network infrastructure or systems role.
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPNs and Wi‑Fi technologies.
• Experience configuring and securing switches, routers and firewalls.
• VMware virtualization experience.
• Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience.
• Windows Server environments including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
• Network monitoring and troubleshooting experience.
• IT service management and ticketing tools.
• Knowledge of IT security and cybersecurity principles.
• Backup and disaster recovery experience.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure and maintain LAN/WAN connectivity including SD‑WAN, VPN and Wi‑Fi.
• Configure, monitor and support switches, routers, firewalls, servers and apps.
• Administer VMware environments and Microsoft 365/Azure.
• Monitor performance, diagnose issues and implement fixes.
• Maintain security with patches, firmware updates and best practices.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery to minimise downtime.
• Support IT infrastructure projects from design through implementation.
• Escalate complex issues and provide advanced troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations and procedures.
• Follow change management and IT best practices.
• Travel to multiple sites as required.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
• Participate in limited on‑call rota (Saturday mornings) and occasional out‑of‑hours work.
