Job summary

Severn Trent Plc is seeking a Network Construction Operative to help deliver our mains renewal programme at a site within one of our four regions in the UK. You will be part of a six-person team carrying out excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of water mains and related assets to ensure reliable water supplies with minimal disruption.

You’ll work 42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with standby.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence required.
• Significant experience in the utilities sector.
• Ideally National Water Hygiene and NRSWA qualifications.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out large-scale construction activities including excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of new water mains, assets and boundary boxes.
• Identify hazards, maintain customer access and ensure uninterrupted water supplies.
• Use trenchless solutions where possible to reduce disruption.
• Work as part of a six-person team.

As a Network Construction Operative, you’ll help deliver our mains renewal programme for a specific site within one of our 4 regions (North, South, East and West). Providing reliable water supplies while keeping disruption to our customers to a minimum.

Working as part of a team of six, you’ll carry out large-scale construction activities including excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of new water mains, assets, customer supply pipes and boundary boxes. You’ll identify and manage hazards, maintain customer access and water supplies, and use trenchless solutions where possible to reduce disruption.

You’ll work 42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, finishing at 4:00pm on Fridays. Standby is also required.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ll need:

• A full driving licence
• Significant experience working in the utilities industry
• Ideally, National Water Hygiene and NRSWA qualifications
• Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
