Job summary

Severn Trent is seeking a Network Construction Operative to help deliver our mains renewal programme at a site in one of our regions. You will join a team of six to carry out excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of water mains and customer supply pipes, while balancing safety and disruption.

You will need a valid driving licence, significant utilities industry experience, and ideally National Water Hygiene and NRSWA qualifications.

Qualifications

• A full driving licence is required.
• Significant experience in the utilities sector.
• National Water Hygiene and NRSWA qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mains renewal programme, including excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of new water mains and associated assets.
• Identify hazards, maintain customer access and water supplies, and use trenchless solutions to reduce disruption.
• Work as part of a team to carry out large-scale construction activities and ensure safety and quality.

As a Network Construction Operative, you’ll help deliver our mains renewal programme for a specific site within one of our 4 regions (North, South, East and West). Providing reliable water supplies while keeping disruption to our customers to a minimum.

Working as part of a team of six, you’ll carry out large-scale construction activities including excavation, installation, testing and commissioning of new water mains, assets, customer supply pipes and boundary boxes. You’ll identify and manage hazards, maintain customer access and water supplies, and use trenchless solutions where possible to reduce disruption.

You’ll work 42 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, finishing at 4:00pm on Fridays. Standby is also required.

You’ll Need

• A full driving licence
• Significant experience working in the utilities industry
• Ideally, National Water Hygiene and NRSWA qualifications
• Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
