Job summary

Amentum in the United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to join the Independent Assurance & Regulation (IA&R) team, based in Bristol, supporting the MOD Submarine Delivery Group and the UK Nuclear Submarine Programme.

The role involves electrical systems safety case development, risk assessment and liaison with stakeholders across defence, safety, and engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance and future readiness across in-service and lifecycle activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or science with a focus on electrical systems.
• Experience with safety or mission-critical electrical systems (nuclear or aerospace).
• Ability to assess complex technical and safety arguments and communicate findings clearly.
• Chartership by a professional institution is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical systems engineering support and technical advice to delivery teams.
• Advise MOD on management, production, control and approval of the electrical systems in safety cases and engineering documentation.
• Advise on safety case expectations for safety campaigns with internal stakeholders and external supply chain partners.
• Represent the team in internal and external project, technical and safety meetings.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, quality, safety, and delivery teams.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring of graduates and early-career engineers.
