Nature Reserve Advisor

Our Nature Reserve Advisor supports the Lead Nature Reserve Advisor in delivering a conservation centre for excellence, focusing on practical habitat management and volunteer support at various sites including Tophill Low Nature Reserve and Cottingham adits woodlands. The role involves engaging with internal teams, volunteers, external partners, regulators, and stakeholders to promote conservation efforts and community engagement.

We are looking for someone passionate about nature conservation, practical habitat management, volunteering, and outdoor environments. The role also requires delivering an exceptional visitor experience.

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and remote locations.
  • Manage daily operations of the Nature Reserve, including weekend rota work.
  • Generate social media content.
  • Ensure H&S compliance, including site and task inductions, tool talks, SSOW, and RAMs.
  • Service, maintain, and inspect tools and machinery.
  • Lead volunteer practical tasks, recruitment, training, and inductions.
  • Liaise with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Handle customer queries directly.
  • Assist with project development, monitoring, and grant delivery.
  • Organise and participate in events.
  • Problem-solving and reactive tasks.
  • Support the delivery of environmental projects.
  • Hold a valid full driving licence (no more than six points) and trailer towing over 750kg.
Relevant Knowledge & Experience:
  • H&S knowledge and first aid certification.
  • Skills in biodiversity monitoring, ecological surveys, bird ringing, bat handling, and newt surveys.
