Job summary

GXO is seeking a National Transport Operations Manager to lead a large-scale, unionised transport network across the UK. You will balance commercial performance, safety, compliance, and operational excellence while steering multi-site teams and engaging senior stakeholders and Trade Unions.

In this full-time role, based in the Manchester/Midlands area, you’ll drive profitability, governance, and continuous improvement across 10 sites, with a salary up to £70,000 per annum and a benefits package

Qualifications

• Proven leadership in transport operations across multi-site environments.
• Experience managing budgets, profitability, and cost control.
• Experience leading industrial relations, stakeholder engagement and union interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end operational performance of the Valero contract across the UK.
• Own contract profitability, budget management, and cost control.
• Champion health, safety, wellbeing, and regulatory compliance across locations.
• Build relationships with senior customer stakeholders and contract governance leads.
• Inspire and develop large teams while managing Trade Union relationships.
