Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Transport Operations Manager for our Bellshill depot. This full-time role leads profitable, safe and compliant transport operations, managing fleets, planning routes, and coaching operational teams and drivers.

You will develop and execute an operational strategy, monitor performance, and strengthen customer and union relations while maintaining high service levels and cost efficiency. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some flexibility.

Qualifications

• Fully flexible to meet all customer and operational requirements in a team environment.
• Proven background in managing a fast-paced transport operation with understanding of O Licence obligations and Working Time Directive.
• Ability to build productive relationships and engage colleagues, including in a unionised environment.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, analytical and numerical skills to motivate and influence others.
• Professionally qualified, ideally CILT and CPC certified, demonstrating strong industry knowledge and compliance expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, compliant operations with Health & Safety and duty of care requirements, including risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Develop and deliver operational strategy covering fleet, subcontractors, shunting, driver training, induction and customer service; monitor outputs.
• Manage, motivate and develop staff and drivers across sites; oversee recruitment, training, performance and HR processes.
• Drive profitability through cost control and cross-department collaboration while ensuring quality standards.
• Strengthen customer relationships through clear communication and participation in management and review meetings.

Are you a strategic transport leader who can drive profitability, performance, and safety through exceptional fleet management, effective planning, and outstanding customer service?

Join us as our Transport Operations Manager, for one of our customers based in our Bellshill depot. You'll drive profitability and operational excellence for our transport function through efficient fleet management, effective traffic planning, and lead safe/compliant, high performing operations by embedding robust Health & Safety practices. This is a great opportunity to provide leadership to our operational teams, drivers and through coaching, clear communication, fostering a cross-functional operation.

This is a full time, permanent position with contracted hours of 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday: Days, with flexibility for business needs).

We're looking to offer a salary of up to£50,000 per annum (dependent on experience), and 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, life assurance and access to our benefits platform, including retail discounts!

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Lead safe, compliant operations by ensuring full adherence to Health & Safety and duty of care requirements, including risk assessments, incident investigations, and accurate reporting
• Develop and deliver operational strategy covering fleet, subcontractors, shunting, driver training, induction, performance, and customer service, while monitoring and reporting on all operational outputs
• Manage, motivate, and develop staff and drivers across all sites, overseeing recruitment, training, performance, and all HR processes including discipline, grievance, and attendance
• Drive operational performance and profitability through effective cost control, strong inter departmental collaboration, and consistent adherence to quality assurance standards
• Strengthen customer relationships through clear communication, proactive service improvement, and participation in management and customer review meetings

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Fully flexible to meet all customer and operational requirements, with strong experience working effectively within a team environment
• Proven background in managing a fast-paced transport operation, with solid understanding of O Licence obligations and Working Time Directive
