Job summary

Stonewater Housing Association is seeking a Director of Building Safety & Compliance to lead safety culture, oversee statutory compliance, and manage the Building Safety & Compliance team on a national remit.

You will direct health and safety policies, auditing, and governance through the Health & Safety Group, reporting on performance using formal tools. This senior role requires aligning diverse teams, budgets, and contracts to ensure safe, compliant housing for customers and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience leading safety inspection processes across residential housing portfolios and risk assessments.
• Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety policy and practice in social housing.
• Familiarity with England and Scotland regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in complex organisations.
• Strong business management skills within social and commercial settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to drive a safety culture and ensure statutory compliance.
• Oversee auditing processes to verify legislative compliance and effective governance.
• Lead the Health & Safety Group to drive improvements in all safety areas.
• Manage Safe, compliant property operations including Building Safety, Fire Safety, and Gas/Water Hygiene.
• Line manage Building Safety & Compliance teams and coordinate HS contracts.
