Job description

Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals. We are also a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner has operations across Europe, offering both Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services that seamlessly connect European countries and the UK.

In the UK, the Freightliner Group operates under several legal entities, including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.

Purpose of the Role:
  • Responsible for winning new business and achieving volume and revenue targets.
  • Proactively developing a strong new business pipeline to ensure sufficient active prospects to meet targets.
Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a sales plan to meet and exceed volume and revenue budgets.
  • Proactively develop a new business pipeline to ensure enough active prospects to generate new business within the financial year.
  • Follow and develop a sales process to increase our win rate probability.
  • Ensure all pricing is profitable and maximised, working with the commercial team for clarity on deals.
  • Identify market demand gaps preventing us from winning more business and communicate with the commercial team.
  • Use CRM to capture data and produce KPIs to measure effectiveness.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with operational teams for excellent customer service.
  • Communicate all new prospects to operational teams to assess capability and capacity.
  • Represent G&W at external events.

  • Degree level education or equivalent.
  • Experience in new business, ideally within transport or supply chain industries.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Financial literacy and experience in pricing optimization.
  • Ability to respond to commercial challenges and changes.

  • Experience working with commercial and operational teams.
  • Knowledge of best practice sales processes.
