Job summary

Southern Water is recruiting a Process Technician – Multiskilled in Canterbury to maintain and repair wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations, ensuring environmental, quality and safety standards.

You will undertake reactive and planned maintenance, install new plant and equipment, respond to alarms, diagnose faults, and update maintenance records, playing a key role in reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ Mechanical and/or Electrical qualification required.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment across wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations.
• Install and commission new plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and safety regulations.
• Respond to alarms and diagnose faults, carrying out repairs or escalating to minimise downtime.
• Perform inspection and testing on mechanical and electrical systems per procedures and statutory requirements.
• Provide technical expertise to internal teams and contractors, ensuring safe, efficient work.
• Accurately update systems with maintenance records, fault reports and compliance documentation.
