Job summary

Astute is recruiting an experienced Multiskilled Engineer for their renewable energy plant in South London. You will perform planned preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, support pumps, conveyors, valves, and automation systems, and work to keep the plant performing at a high standard.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll participate in mechanical installations, inspect systems, and contribute to energy efficiency projects.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
• 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations (desirable).
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on Mechanical and Electrical equipment.
• Support mechanical maintenance tasks including pumps, conveyors, valves, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, bearings, and gearboxes.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant regulations (e.g., IEE wiring regulations).
• Work with automation systems and support PLC/HMI.
• Support energy efficiency initiatives and monitoring systems.
• Assist in breakdown repairs of mechanical components and systems.
• Participate in mechanical installations and modifications.
• Conduct mechanical inspections as part of the PPM schedule.

The Multiskilled Engineer will play an important part in helping to ensure the plant continues to perform to a high standard and support the business with its growth and investment in sustainability. The role comes with a competitive salary, pension and company benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Multiskilled Engineer role

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Recognized engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)

• Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Diagnostic and fault-finding skills on electrical systems.
• A good understanding of mechanical systems
• Problem solver with a hands‑on, can‑do attitude.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and safety conscious.
• Flexible to work shifts or be on‑call, if required.

• A salary of up to £44,000 based on experience
