Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a site in Chipping Campden. The role carries a £45,000-£50,000 salary DOE, plus a £460 weekly standby allowance and a Monday–Friday pattern with on-call 1 in 4 weeks.

You will maintain highly automated plant equipment across a heavy industrial environment. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, fault-find on electrical and mechanical systems, and work with PLCs and automation.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ3/C&G/BTEC/HNC), with strong multi-skilled maintenance experience.
• Electrical and mechanical competency with fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing/processing or heavy industrial environments.
• BS2391/COMPEX advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on industrial plant and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to maximise uptime.
• Fault-find on PLCs, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Maintain three-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, switchgear, and panels.
• Repair conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and valves.
• Complete maintenance records in the CMMS and follow LOTO safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability.
• Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 4 weeks).

Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a leading industrial processing business to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its site in Chipping Campden. The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer role comes with a salary of £45,000 - £50,000 DOE, a £460 per week standby allowance (1 week in 4), and the opportunity to join a growing engineering team responsible for maintaining highly automated plant equipment.

Responsibilities and duties of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer role

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs across a range of industrial plant and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults, ensuring maximum equipment uptime.
• Fault-find and troubleshoot PLCs, sensors, instrumentation, control systems and associated automation equipment.
• Maintain and repair three-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, switchgear, relays and control panels.
• Repair and overhaul mechanical equipment including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics and valves.
• Complete maintenance records accurately using the site's CMMS system.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and company health & safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement projects by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Participate in the on-call rota (1 week in every 4), responding to site breakdowns when required.

Professional qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Strong multi-skilled maintenance experience with both mechanical and electrical competency.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience fault-finding on PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, processing, FMCG, automated warehousing or heavy industrial environments.
• BS2391 Inspection & Testing and COMPEX qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
