Job summary

Astute is seeking a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its Pulborough site within the Renewables Team, a well‑established food manufacturer supplying bakery products across the UK and Europe. The role offers a 4-on/4-off pattern from 07:00 to 19:00 and a comprehensive benefits package, plus free onsite parking and a strong working environment.

Qualifications

• Time served or engineering qualifications.
• 17th/18th edition wiring regulations.
• Experience maintaining industrial machinery, ideally within FMCG.
• Welding experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Complete PPM and reactive breakdown maintenance on manufacturing/industrial/FMCG machinery to maximise equipment performance.
• Conduct electrical fault-finding with quick response and rectification.
• Perform activities on 3-phase and single-phase power.
• Perform activities on motors, pumps, metal detectors, flow wrappers, packaging equipment etc.
• Other duties as required.

Responsibilities and duties of the Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will:

• Complete PPM and reactive breakdown maintenance on manufacturing/ industrial/ FMCG machinery to maximise equipment performance.
• Conduct electrical fault‑finding with quick response and rectification.
• Perform activities on 3-phase and single-phase power.
• Perform activities on motors, pumps, metal detectors, flow wrappers, ultrasonic utters and packaging equipment etc.
• Other duties as required.

Professional qualifications

• Time served, or engineering qualifications.
• 17th/18th edition wiring regulations.
• Previous experience maintaining industrial machinery, ideally within FMCG.
• Experience with welding is desirable.

Personal skills

• Knowledgeable of both electrical and mechanical duties, with a bias to electrical.
• Hands on and enjoys getting stuck in.

• Salary of up to £46,000 DOE
• 4 on 4 off shift rotation
