Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join the Reading-based team at Fobney WTW. You will inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant with minimal supervision to keep sites operational.

The role requires an electrical background with an apprenticeship and an upskill in mechanical NVQ. You’ll work 38 hours across weekdays, with overtime opportunities and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be a time-served apprentice with significant electrical experience.
• Willingness to work in a multi-skilled capacity for mechanical and electrical plant.
• Valid driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in line with procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions, including complex faults.
• Provide technical advice and training on equipment; support trainees as needed.
• Standby rota participation following training.
